Preface
The information management plays a crucial role in decreasing the time needed for making the right management decisions. The undeniable impact of the information flow in enterprises on the logistic processes efficiency forces the focus on the integration of the information flow in the entire supply chain. Current trends in business practice make it also necessary to consider opportunities related to the information integration of the supply chain in terms of the impact of the environmental aspects at an early implementation stage of the sustainable development concept. Information flow integration provides an opportunity to focus on greening the supply chain. It is currently difficult to identify the impact of information integration on the greening of the supply chain in a wide range of practical applications. This monograph therefore focuses on the potential of information integration solutions for the greening supply chain. Through 20 chapters that positively passed at least two double-blind review processes, 36 authors from 10 countries present their latest scientific results providing a significant contribution to the area of information flow integration in supply chain management.

The scope of the presented monograph is divided into three main parts:

• Application of Information Flow Standards in the Supply Chain,
• Information Systems and Technological Solutions Integrating Information Flows in the Supply Chain,
• Modelling and Simulation of Logistics Processes as a Decision-Making Tool.

The first part concerns the application of information flow standards in supply chains. The central task of integrated supply chains is to ensure access of all of the SC participants to updated, consolidated and coherent information with regard to the currently performed processes. Having access to reliable and valid information anywhere and anytime is a significant factor affecting competitive advantage and efficiency of actions. The application of information and communication standards eliminates errors in the implementation of logistic processes and decreases overall lead time, which in return supports ecological orientation in supply chain management.

The second part focuses on the role of IT systems and technological solutions in the integration of supply chain information flow between individual business partners in the supply chain. An important factor influencing this integration is the application of technological solutions that support the integration of logistic processes in the supply chain, both at the strategic level through the application of integration platforms or data exchange clouds and at the operational level through the application of technologies that improve the physical implementation of logistic processes. The Internet of things and the Industry 4.0 concept play an increasingly important role in efficient supply chain management.

The third part of the problem concerns modelling and simulation of logistic processes as decision-making tools. In the era of dynamically changing market situation, the time spent on information flow and decision-making is one of the key factors influencing the competitiveness of enterprises, also in the environmental aspect. The decision-making process can be effectively supported by simulation tools, which enable a multi-criteria analysis of potential benefits or risks resulting from the implementation of the planned measures. The stage immediately preceding the use of simulation tools is process modelling, without which it is not possible to effectively monitor and control the implementation of activities. As the decision-making process has a key impact on the logistics process efficiency, it is an important element in the process of information integration for the greening supply chains.

Although not all of the received chapters appear in this book, the efforts spent and the work done for this book are very much appreciated.
